Victor Villavicencio
Víctor Alberto Villavicencio Navarro has a BA, MA, and a PhD in History by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He also has a MA in History of the Hispanic World by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas de Madrid, Spain.
Between 2015 and 2018, he served as Head of the Deparment of History and Social Sciences at the UNAM’s Centro de Enseñanza para Extranjeros, where he coordinated and organized several courses, seminars, and diploma courses on Mexican History and Culture.
He is currently a full time professor at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), where he teaches the courses “Socio-Political History of Mexico”, “Contemporary Issues and Problems of the Mexican Reality”, “New Visions of Mexican History”, and “Mexico-US Relations”. He is responsible for the editorial secretariat of Revista Estudios, an academic publication of the Departament of General Studies at ITAM, which specializes in philosophy, history, and literature.
He has dictated several conferences in Mexico and Europe, participated in national and international congresses, and taught courses in different academic institutions in Mexico. He has published more than half a dozen articles and book chapters about his areas of interest and research, which are the History of Mexican Political Institutions and Ideologies (XIXth and XX centuries), with special attention to the development of liberalism, conservatism and monarchism; Mexican Diplomatic History; and the teaching of History and Humanities.
He is a National Researcher Candidate of the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología.
