Within an academic world governed by specialization, Carlos McCadden has preferred to live the integration and synthesis of different knowledges. From 1974 to 1982 he studied simultaneously the Licentiate Degrees in Economics and Social Sciences at the ITAM, and the Licentiate Degree in Philosophy at the Universidad Iberoamericana. During the academic year 1981-82 he taught at the Academic Departments of General Studies and Economics at ITAM. From 1982 to 1987 he traveled to Switzerland to continue his studies in a Franco-German bicultural environment, having lived since his childhood a multicultural experience E.E.U.U / Mexico. He obtained a PhD in Philosophy from the bilingual university of Fribourg; where he also studied theology. He joined the Department of General Studies in January 1988 as a full-time professor and taught courses in the Department of Economics and of Law, which degree he began in that year. For the 1991-92 academic year he was invited by the University of Fribourg to carry out research on "Ethics and Economics" financed by the Swiss National Fund for Scientific Research. Upon his return, he rejoined the Academic Department of General Studies as a full-time professor. His areas of interest are: the philosophical conceptions of Man, the World and God; History of Economic Science; Ethics and the Economy; and, in Law, International Commercial Arbitration and Human Rights; in which he has published multiple articles and books. He has been a regular lecturer in several national and foreign universities. In 2005, he was granted the Professional Merit recognition by the Alumni Association of ITAM for his remarkable career in the academic sector. He is a member of several organizations, including the US-Mexico Bar Association, the Mexican Bar Association, where he headed the Human Rights Commission (2006-2011) and then was Counselor (2011-13). He is member of the NAFTA 2022 Consultative Committee of Private Commercial Disputes, to which he was appointed by the Ministry of Economy of the Mexican Federal Government. He is advisor to the North American Branch (NAB) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). In 2003 he served as Acting Head of the Academic Department of General Studies and is the holder of it since 2006.
