Tatiana Alfonso

Full time professor

Full-time professor at ITAM Law School. PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and M.A. in Sociology at the same institution. Psychologist and lawyer from Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia).

Her research interests include sociology of law, race and ethnicity, sociology of development, and she is particularly interested in how legal and political institutions may have distributive effects between unequal actors in society. Her current research focuses on the interplay between political identities in rural contexts, property rights and economic development, by looking at collective property institutions in Colombia and Mexico and analyzing how communities use the legal institution for their own welfare and development.
