Currently is full time Professor and  Coordinator of the Asia Pacific Studies Program (PEAP) in the Academic Department of International Studies at ITAM. B.A. in International Relations (UNAM), M.A. in Asia and Africa Studies (El Colegio de Mexico), and Ph.D. in History (University of Tokyo)

He has worked as instructor at several Japanese universities, including Daito Bunka, International Christian University, Sophia University and Utsunomiya University. He was also full time Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo, and news anchor at the international service NHK World in Japan. He regularly organizes symposia and conferences, authors fully-referred academic books and articles, and is a regular news analyst on Asian events for national and international mass media, including El Universal, El Financiero, El Economista,Televisa and Reforma in México, as well as AFP, CNN, BBC, Radio France Internationale, Xinhua, People’s Daily and China Daily, among others.

In Mexico he participates in courses related to Asia at UNAM, El Colegio de México, the Secretariat of the Navy’s Center for High Naval Studies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Diplomatic Academy, and executive programs at ITAM, among others. Overseas, he has participated in special courses and executive conferences at numerous venues including East China Normal University in Shanghai, Hokkaido University in Japan, the U.N. Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean in Chile, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, the Foreign Service Institute in the Philippines, as well as the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
