José Rivas
Jose Luis is full time faculty at ITAM. He was also adjunct faculty at Tulane University in the US. With 17 years of full time work experience he held various senior management positions at Inverlat securities and at Grupo ADO where he was a member of its board of directors for 8 years. He holds a PhD in Business from IE Business school in Madrid, an MBA from Northwestern University and a Bachelors in Business from Anahuac University. His main research topics are boards of directors, initial public offerings (IPOs) and firm internationalization. He is an editorial board member of “Corporate Governance: An International Review” the most cited journal for corporate governance. He is also a vice-president for the Iberoamerican Academy of Management and the designated country expert for Mexico at the International Corporate Governance Society.
Jose Luis teaches global strategy and a top management seminar for undergraduates. Within the MBA program he teaches leadership and change management. For the executive education area, he coordinates the course “Board Effectiveness” geared towards board members of medium and large companies in Mexico that is held once a year at ITAM. He was a guest researcher at the WP Carey Business School in Arizona State University. Jose Luis has published international business cases, book chapters and different academic articles in management and international business for journals like Strategic Management Journal and International Business Review.
