Alfredo Villafranca

Mexican 1967. Catholic without partisan ideological affiliation. Married since 1994, he has two daughters, born in 2001 and 2005, respectively.

Academic trajectory:
Ph Doctor in Public Communication Studies from Navarra University.
Master in Sociology from Salamanca University.
Master in Cooperativism University of Mondragón, Pais Vasco. Expert Degree in Media and Development Cooperation from the Complutense University of Madrid. All in Spain.
Bachelor Degree in Communication from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey ITESM. México.

Professional activities:
Electoral district counselor of Mexico Federal Institute 2000-2003. Counselor of the Mexican Republic Presidency at the Civil Organizations attention office, and at the National Institute of Social Development: Indesol, 2000-2012. Counselor and columnist of Reforma newspaper, between 2000 and 2008. Consultant and member of development programs with national and international civil organizations such as the Social Union of Mexican Entrepreneur; Spanish Cooperation Agency, responsible for the educational departament for Mexico; Caritas Nacional de Mexico, humanitarian social development projects area;  Asociación Nuestro Hogar Anar, Hispanic American Confederation for children in abandonment situation; and  The Jean Vanier Ark Foundation, a community of people with disabilities. Founding partner of Ecos Iluminación México Sa de Cv., a company dedicated to the solar renewable generation energy and lighting saving solutions.

Teaching experience. 
Professor at the University of Salamanca Spain, and since 1998 at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico, ITAM, where he serves as  professor of the Academic Department of General Studies. He teaches subjects on humanities contemporary civilization problems and history and is  member of the editorial board of the Estudios magazine.
He has coordinated in the Extension Department University the Civil Organizations and Social Responsibility Diploma.
His research, conferences and study topics are: civil and professional ethics, development and environment, thought and social justice, as well as inclusion and gender equity in vulnerable groups. He sympathizes with Emmanuel Mounier personalism school of thought. He has made academic stays as visiting professor from Itam at the Universities of Valencia and Mondragon Spain, and at the York University of Toronto Canada, where he currently is.
