Natalia Saltalamacchia Ziccardi has been a professor at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) since 2004. She was Director of the Undergraduate Program of International Relations at ITAM, as well as of the Center for Inter-American Studies and Programs (Centro de Estudios y Programas Interamericanos, CEPI) at said Institute. She is member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, SNI), as researcher level 1. She served as General Director of the Matías Romero Institute (IMR) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) between 2015 and 2018. She was also one of the vice presidents of the Mexican Association of International Studies (AMEI).

She holds a Ph.D. in Contemporary Latin America from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor’s Degree on International Relations from ITAM.

She is the author and editor of the book México y el multilateralismo del siglo XXI, together with Olga Pellicer and Guadalupe González, and coordinated along with Ana Covarrubias Los derechos humanos en la política exterior: seis casos latinoamericanos, among other books. She has collaborated with articles for academic journals and chapters in books on topics related to human rights in international politics, regionalism, and multilateralism. She has also published opinion articles in newspapers and magazines.

Since 2006 she has been Associate Editor of Foreign Affairs Latinoamérica as well as member of the Editorial Board of Revista Estudios (ITAM). In addition, she was part of the Reforma’s Research Editorial Board, a national newspaper. Moreover, she has been part of several evaluation committees, from which the following stand out: the Foreign Service promotion board, the committee for the Adrián Lajous thesis prize at El Colegio de México, and the Advisory Board of the Historical Diplomatic Archives of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She is currently a member of the Mexican Council on Foreign Affairs (COMEXI).

She has participated in several congresses, seminars and conferences in cities such as Toronto, Washington, DC, Sao Paulo and London; among other institutions, at ITAM, COLMEX, UNAM, London School of Economics (LSE) and the University of Minnesota. Besides, she has lectured at the Instituto Matias Romero and at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
