Joyce Sadka
Joyce Sadka is a professor and researcher at the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico, in the Department of Law and the Center for Economic Research. In 2021 she was appointed Head of the Department of Law. She earned a PhD from Rice University and a Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law. Since 2005, Joyce has developed an empirical research agenda on labor law and justice. She has gathered databases from more than 35,000 casefiles of firing lawsuits from 4 important labor courts in Mexico. She has designed and implemented randomized controlled trials in labor courts to test policies of monitoring, incentives, automation, transparency, and accountability. The results of these trials contributed relevant scientific evidence to the design of the new labor justice system and the drafting of the new federal labor law passed on 2019.
